1. Does it fit? 

 

Comparing the measurements of a potential purchase and the size of your space is one of the key things you should be doing when looking at buying furniture online. Something you might not have thought about is: Can you get that piece of furniture in there?

 

Many online furniture buyers overlook measuring the height of their ceiling and the width of their staircase (Or elevator in an apartment building). This can be an issue when the new furniture comes assembled and your only options in this situation is to (A.) disassemble and reassemble the furniture, which may lead to more issues if you're trying to DIY - or (B.) MacGyver it to the heavens, which may or may not involve option A, or (C.) Return it. 

 

So, save yourself the trouble and measure everything twice! 

 

2. Take reviews with a grain of salt. 

 

Everyone knows that reviews are the best way to feel more secure with a purchase. After all, whose opinion can you trust more than another customer? Reading reviews is a smart thing to do, but remember not to put too much weight on it. Fake reviews (Both good and bad) do exist. You should also always check the date of a review as some may be outdated. If you're looking for security in your purchase, how the company responds to the negative reviews will tell you everything you need to know. 

 

3. Colour check! 

 

The colour of the product is rarely accurately displayed in pictures for a range of reasons, including the varying display settings of your phone, tablet or laptop - this can lead to a disappointing surprise. 

 

You can try to get a better idea of the colour by viewing the item on different devices, or looking for customer photos but there is no better solution than viewing it in real life. 4. Returns?
